Frequently Asked Questions

What types of damp do you survey for?

We assess all common types of damp, including condensation, rising damp, penetrating damp, and issues linked to cold spot risk. Our surveys focus on identifying the true cause of moisture - not just the visible symptoms.

What is the difference between a damp survey and a damp prevention survey?

A damp survey investigates existing damp problems and identifies their cause. A damp prevention survey focuses on reducing the risk of future damp by assessing ventilation, insulation, cold spots and exterior building performance.

Do you provide a written report?

Yes. If your chosen survey includes a written report, you will receive, a clear, easy-to-understand written report outlining our findings, likely causes and practical recommendations. Reports are written in plain English and designed to help you decide on next steps.

How long does a damp survey take?

Most surveys take between 45 and 90 minutes, depending on the size and condition of the property.

Will you recommend treatment or carry out repair work?

No. Damp Trace provides independent surveys and advice only - we do not sell damp treatments, we advise on the correct treatment depending on findings to ensure you do not waste money on unnecessary repairs. This means our recommendations are unbiased and focused on what your property actually needs.

Can you tell me if the damp is serious?

Yes. We assess the extent, cause, and risk level of the damp and explain whether it requires urgent attention or simple preventative measures.

How soon can you carry out a survey?

We aim to offer prompt same-week appointments. Contact us to check current availability in your area.
